Introduction to Hinduism: History, Text, Philosophy

This course provides a broad survey of Hindu history, scripture, and thought.
The principal idea here is to explore what is meant by the terms 'Hinduism' or 'Hindu Dharma' and thereby go some way towards an understanding of what is meant by the Hindu identity and the significance of this identity, both traditionally and in the modern world.
The course will provide significant knowledge and insight into a range of topics concerning the philosophies and the literature of Hindu Dharma. It will provide an  understanding of the beliefs and values of the Hindu traditions and also encourage you to think about the meaning and significance of these ideas in your own life and for the world as a whole.
The course consists of seven sessions delivered on a weekly basis.

WE RESPECT HINDUISM

RSS, rss killed gandhi , rss reality, rss facts, sangh HQ, sangh office
Social media has been a powerful medium in exposing the sinister campaign against RSS.
While reviewing some of the tweets by anti RSS propagandists, I felt it is necessary to expose some of the popular myths about RSS. A lot of people are blindly ranting against Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh, without getting proper information. You can't change everyone, but at least you can put some facts on the table. So here we go.. Note that these are not the official statements of RSS, but that of general social media population in India today. Full credit to the original thinkers and the original photographers, for the information presented here onwards.

It is extremely classist. It lacks plurality and inclusiveness. I do not see many people of blue-collar backgrounds who can afford these classes on a regular basis and many of them are precisely the ones who could probably benefit the most from yoga. Most of the studios in my city charge around $1200 for an unlimited yearly membership.  That’s serious coin. I can hardly  envision a stressed, single mother trying to raise her kids on social assistance being able to afford that when she probably needs the benefits of yoga more than the pampered trophy wife who just returned form her 5-star shamanistic initiation retreat in Bolivia. I walk into most of my yoga classes and I see nothing but a sea of white faces, maybe the token black and Asian. Some people may read that as a racist statement but I’m not trying to be racist and this isn’t a reverse racism argument either, it is just my observation. Yoga in North America caters to the affluent and is falling in line with the capitalist system of profit. It is increasingly distancing itself from the roots of yoga.

I can barely make out one non-Caucasian at this Bikram yoga training session.

Hinduism in Arab states

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Hindus in Middle East Countries)
There are many Hindus in Arab states, many due to the migration of Indians to the oil-rich states around the Persian Gulf.
Hindu temples have been built in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Yemen and Oman.
The estimated figures for the Hindu population in several Arab countries is as follows: indian diaspora, chapter 4[not in citation given]
  • Total: 2.7 million
The number of Hindus in other Arab countries, including the countries of the Levant and North Africa, is thought to be negligible, though Libya has an Indian community of about 10,000 [1] individuals, many of whom are likely to be Hindu. It is not known whether any Hindu temples exist in these countries.
(See Hinduism by country for the sources of these figures, which may need to be adjusted.)
